Aysgarth School is one of the country’s leading Prep Schools for boys, incorporating a full boarding focused, boys’ Prep School for 8 to 13 year olds, and a Pre-Prep and Nursery for boys and girls aged from 3 to 8. The Prep School feeds the most selective public schools in the country
Aysgarth School is situated in 50 acres of parkland in the foothills of the Yorkshire Dales, near Bedale, North Yorkshire. The Prep School, for boys aged eight to 13, takes boarders from all over the UK as well as a small number from overseas. Although boarding focused, the School now also welcomes day boys. OFSTED completed a Boarding Inspection in October 2008 and awarded the independent school 'outstanding' as its overall assessment, placing it amongst the best in the country. More and more parents in the area are choosing an ‘Aysgarth education’ for their children at an earlier age. Early years education in the Nursery and Pre-Prep School is provided for both boys and girls aged three to eight years.
Aysgarth is the only all boys Prep boarding school in the north of England with an unmatched record in the north for sending boys to schools such as Eton, Harrow, Shrewsbury, Stowe and Winchester as well as Ampleforth and Sedbergh near by. Aysgarth is where boys can be boys! The School aim’s high. They prepare boys for the leading public schools in the country, and aim to stretch every boy to make the most of their abilities in small groups and classes, whatever the activity. In 2009, boys achieved 100% success rate in passing their Common Entrance exams. In addition, six scholarships were awarded including a King’s Scholarship to Eton, one of the hardest awards to receive in the country.
The School is ambitious for every child, finding and developing the best in each of them, whether it be academic, sport, music or the arts.
